Phantom of the Opera tells the tale of Christine Daaé, a young girl who has been taking lessons from a mysterious teacher. The teacher is no doubt in fact the Opera Ghost who haunts the Opera house. Christine soon finds herself the object of affection of two men, one the handsome Raoul de Changy and two the disfigured musical genius, known as the Phantom of the Opera. Through a whirlwind of events Christine soon finds herself having to choose between her teacher, Erik (The Phantom) and her sweetheart Raoul.Meg Giry
Meg Giry is the daughter of Madame Giry, who in the book is the Phantom’s box keeper and in the film is the ballet mistress. Meg herself is a young ballet dancer and in the book finds herself rising to the top, with the Phantom’s help. The Phantom promised Madame Giry, that he would make Meg an Empress. In the film, Meg is a friend of Christine and they are as close as sisters. In both film and movie, Meg is a wild spirit, in the film she discovers how the Phantom first came to Christine from the mirror and finds the passage ways of the Phantom before her mother pulls her away. In the end of the movie, we see Meg going down to the Phantom’s lair and she is the one who discovers his mask and is left holding it and wondering.
